Virginia Will Allow Some Criminal Records to Be Sealed Next Year

Starting next summer (July 1, 2026), Virginia will allow some records to be sealed. More specifically, Virginia residents with certain misdemeanor and felony convictions will be able to petition to have their records sealed, meaning those convictions won’t appear on background checks.
